Report on the Research Meet
The importance of research at the Under graduate level and Post graduate level need not be over stressed. The future of India lies in Research and Development in Basic sciences. With this view to encourage students, the Department of Biotechnology organized A One Day Research Meet in Biotechnology, Environmental Science and Phytochemicals. These are very important areas of Research. A total of 62 Research Scholars participated in the Poster Presentation. The posters were put-up in the Biotechnology Laboratory, 3rd fl. Mithibai College. Students from 20 colleges visited the meet. The Poster session was inaugurated by Prin. Dr. K. V. Mangaonkar, Mithibai College. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Scientist and Head, NEERI, Mumbai, Dr. Rekha Singhal, Head Department of Food Technology, ICT and Dr. S. Sharma, Vice President Sciformix Ltd were invited to judge the Posters. Mr. And Mrs. Gupta, CMD and Jt. Director of Konark Group of Industries were also present. The research scholars represented 3 States, 5 Universities, 12 Research Centres, 10 Departments and 16 Colleges. Thus it was a wide spectrum of talent that took part in the academic endeavor. Konark Group of companies, Konark Fixtures Ltd instituted Shri Sajjan Gupta – Konark Memorial Trophy for the best research. Mr. Rakesh Gupta, CMD of the company was gracious enough in sponsoring the event. Mr. Gupta spoke about the vision of his father in encouraging the young talent in the country. He also emphasized on a tie – up between Industry and academic institution. |
