The students were also taken on a field trip to Goa. A group of 22 students, accompanied by three teachers from the commerce faculty, went on an industrial visit to Goa
Several local industries were visited by the students. The first was the ‘Zantye Cashew,’ where they were able to see for themselves the roasting, shelling and peeling process. The best part of Zantye Cashew is that it generates employment for local unskilled labourers. Their next visit was to the ‘Elegant Offset Printers,’ which is an outsourcing arm of the ‘Times Of India’ in Goa. They print a staggering 1 lakh copies of TOI and other local dailies in a day.
The ‘Goan Bounty Fisheries’ was the next stop. Students also visited ‘Propack Packaging,’ which specializes in packaging boxes. The trip concluded with a visit to D-link which manufactures computer hardware.
